Chinese New Year 2015

Chinese New Year

Gung Hay Fat Choy!

I actually don’t have any red clothing so here I am rocking the maroon!  According to Chinese traditions, wearing red brings luck.  We all need a little bit of that so this is as close as I got while busy cooking up some of our favourite Chinese dishes.  I have only recently started celebrating the Chinese New Year because of a good friend who introduced us to the customs and would host these annual parties.  Disappointingly there won’t be one this year, but in good faith, our family will continue this wonderful celebration!  We don’t have any dragons, red envelopes or won’t be undertaking some major housecleaning (signifying removing the old and welcoming the new.) However, we will wear red, put up some lanterns, bang some pots scaring away evil spirits and of course eat some delicious Chinese dishes in celebration of the Year of the Goat/Sheep/Ram!

Are you born 1943 1955 1967 1979 1991 2003?  If so, A special Happy New Year to you!

Here are some tasty delicious meals to try for the Lunar New Year!  I cook a lot of Chinese meals and need to post more as they are quick to prepare and so tasty especially when made from home.

I have heard that celebrities, Michelangelo, Mark Twain, Thomas Edison, Pierre Trudeau, Barbara Walters, Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts, Bruce Willis, Benicio Del Toro and Claire Danes are also Year of the Goat/Sheep/Ram!  And I am totally into Homeland at the moment so Happy Year Claire!!!
