Chocolate Green Smoothie

Chocolate Green Smoothie Just for you

All I want to do is write, take photos, share, cook, eat, bake, run and celebrate!!!  And that is exactly what I have been doing!  It has been non-stop around here!  I am officially off my cleanse, indulging, cooking and baking like a mad woman!  I was supposed to ease back into a regular diet, but I think that lasted about a day before I fully dove back in.  It has been euphoric!  Mainly to be FREE and not dietary challenged, limitations suck and it literally spiraled me the other way. My regular balanced diet was always good and it was so hard being restricted,  like a ‘bird with clipped wings’, lol  I know, that’s a tad  melodramatic.

I have so much to share and so many things going on in my mind! I believe that I am feeling the “Spring fever” and desperately trying to de-clutter my life!  Things are about to get busier and I am doing my best to keep ahead so I will be able to manage things in some sort of orderly fashion in future. One of the new habits that I did acquire from my diet was Green Smoothies!  I have always been a big smoothie fan, especially in the summer time! However, after spending two weeks in Nicaragua with blenders everywhere and the sweetest freshest fruit you can imagine, I am totally hooked again! Especially due to the fact that I refrained from drinking them myself while away.  Not sure where this willpower came from?

Yum!!!  Green Smoothies have become our thing!  Best of the boys love them and all their friends that come over for play dates!  I have added some cocoa or cacao powder. Just to bring out the chocolate in it 😉  Absolutely addictive, delish, refreshing, nutritious and filling!  Its been a playoff hockey kind of weekend so the boys are all pumped about power food!  Chocolate Green Smoothies have been the perfect, delicious solution!

Blueberries for the Freezer

A few of my TRICKS to keep up this healthy tradition is to freeze fruit ahead of time.  Place any washed, ripe blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and bananas on a flat baking tray, spread out with some wax or parchment paper and put them in the freezer until they are frozen.  Then transfer to a container or zip lock bag so you have frozen fruit on hand to add to the blender.

With Kale, I wash, dry and then slice it up an put it in a zip lock bag and keep it in the fridge and use it as required for salads or Chocolate Green Smoothies. Kale is pretty hardy and lasts a few days this way.  It just makes it so much easier to prepare when you don’t have time or the motivation.

Kale Tricks

Here are the A-listers and power ingredients:

Cacao or Cocoa Powder
Almond Milk or milk of your choice

Flax or Chia seeds

Kale smoothie ready to be blendedAll the fruit, veg, coconut flour, seeds, dates, cocoa and almond milk added to the blender to make a delicious, healthy Green Chocolate Smoothie! We all know how coco-nutty I have been lately so yes I have also been adding shredded coconut to the mix!  It is so delicious, keeps you going for hours and it feels tremendous drinking something so good.  A great way to start your day or even for an afternoon pick-me up!

Slurp away and enjoy!
